PUNK USUAL PINES : JOYFUL GRIEF, A CELEBRATION OF THEO’S WORK AND LIFE

We are organising a retrospective exhibition in December 2024 at TURF Projects Space in Croydon, London to celebrate the life and work of Theo Khelfoune Ferreras (also known as Theo or Teo KF and Teo K Ferreras), a young artist and activist who tragically took their own life in March 2023 at 19 years of age. This exhibition will showcase Theo’s photography and short films. And will share documentation and stories about their life and dreams.

Theo was part of a community of artists and activists who will also be showcased in the exhibition. The exhibition will be a joyful celebration of grief and life. The organisers would like to thank TURF Projects and The Brit School. TURF projects provided free of charge the space for the exhibition.

The title PUNK USUAL PINES refers to the what3words location given by the Coroner’s office to their family to locate where Theo passed away. Considering Theo loved the Punk movement and they were fascinated by trees and forests, the three words seem like a premonition or inspiration. Theo is buried under a Scots pine in Epping Forest, London.
